Swarovski - Shine on You Crazy Diamond

Do you want to dazzle in the discotheque, burnish in the ball dance floor or radiate on the road? Do you want to make all eyes turn to you when you enter the evening party? Do you want to stand apart from the crowd and look different? Then Swarovski is your best bet every time you step out of your home.

Swarovski is the brand name for a particular kind of glass which is cut into millions and millions of tiny pieces that sparkle and shine like small diamonds. They are made up of glass but the brilliance that they exude is incomparable and astonishing. The best thing about Swarovski is that you can use them in jewellery, in your clothes, in your accessories and anywhere you want to add a touch of brilliance.

Swarovski on clothes is a very common practice. Whether you choose to wear pink, green or any colour, you can always make your dress coruscate with these tiny glass pieces. You can make any plain and dull surface, revigorate with life by adding some Swarovski. And that's why some consider them magical. Swarovski on your black evening gowns would make you look no less than celestial.

Swarovski also goes with your accessories. Some wear it on wrist watches, some put them on their bags and purses, some flash them on their belts while some ablaze their shoes with Swarovski. A wrist watch with Swarovski on the hemisphere and any pink or blue colour band makes the hand look very dainty, while Swarovski on the leather belts look gorgeous.

Swarovski in jewellery is your best bet when you want to shimmer and glow. Work, home, social gathering or high profile party, you can wear Swarovski studded jewellery to any place and look different even when you walk with the crowd.

Diamond Studded Bentley Shift Knob by LP Wheel Group

In the vehicle-adornment industry, modesty is not a common word. Let’s face it - no one buys a 24 carat gold suspension springs or a bejeweled wheel rims or a platinum steering wheel to keep a low profile. That is simply preposterous!

Creating auto parts that are glitzier than the last revealed has always been the challenge for companies like the H&R Gold and LP Wheel Group which is known for producing remarkable car parts and accessories that only the privilege few can afford while the rest of us are left admiring and gawking. Tony Lee, proud owner of LP Wheel is popular among car enthusiasts for his line of Chevrolet and Ford emblems that are studded with multicolored Swarovski crystals which are sold under the IcedOutEmz brand.

In preparation for the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show held last November in Las Vegas, Mr. Lee decided to create something more elaborate and more expensive than what he usually does—a diamond-festooned, 18 karat white gold shift knob priced at $150,000. According to Mr. Lee, “I wanted people to feel luxury in the palm of their hand. People wear jewelry in their car, so I came up with the idea that the car should wear jewelry, too.”

And since he knows that only few can afford such luxurious auto parts he has chosen to design the knob for pricey vehicles like the Bentley Continental GT which according to him, “For the past couple of years, the most popular car for the big dogs has been the Bentley Continental GT,” with a retail price of about $165,000.

Mr. Lee ordered a spare knob from Bentley Motors—a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group and recipient of quality Volkswagen parts like Volkswagen timing chain. The knob featured a sandwich-like design with a metal alloy strip bordered by leather grips. To create his diamond studded masterpiece, Mr. Lee removed the center strip and created a mold out of its indistinctly curvy shape. He used the mold to create an identically sized and contoured band in 10 ounces of gold.

Mr. Lee has hired a professional jeweler to affix the 30 carats of diamonds into the golden strip employing a technique that is similar to the one used for wedding rings. Each of the diamond used is 2.5 millimeters in diameter, the size which according to Mr. Lee would create the maximum effect aside from that much larger stones would have created ugly gaps around the knob’s edges on the other hand smaller stones wouldn’t appear stunning enough to the eye.

The diamond studded shift knob took 100 hours of labor to complete and was finished just in time for the trade show where it was placed in a glass museum case, guarded by a similarly stunning model clad in a skimpy dress. Mr. Lee cheerfully said, “Everybody’s jaw was dropping at how expensive it was.”

The knob was so expensive that no takers as of this time were reported but Mr. Lee has decided to put it on display at the company’s headquarters in Las Vegas. Mr. Lee has also added that the publicity generated by the product’s mere existence has been worth the effort and investment. As a matter of fact, a lot of publicists have been calling Mr. Lee about making custom knobs. “We could easily do a custom for $5,000 depending on the size and clarity of the stones and the size of the knob,” Mr. Lee added. But in case someone would want the original, Mr. Lee explained that he has become reluctant to part with it, “I would rather just make another piece with the same amount of carats. But if the price is right, well, everything is negotiable.”

Man Made Diamonds – Save Big Money And Avoid Mined Diamond Scams

High quality man made diamonds are a bargain at about $80 per carat, and they do not increase in price exponentially as carat weight increases. For example, a one-carat synthetic diamond costs about $80; a three-carat man made diamond would then sell for $240. A one-carat mined diamond that sells for $3000 would go for $45,000 in a three-carat size, all things being equal, which with mined diamonds is never the case. Perplexing comparative evaluations, exponential price growth, consumer confusion, and the reality of diamond industry antics is why the mined diamond business is awash in dirty tricks. Here are descriptions of the most sneaky and pervasive mined diamond scams:

THE BLUE-WHITE SCAM: A jeweler tells you, "This is a blue-white diamond." This is a very old term. The dealer will probably tell you that it is a better diamond, but actually it is just the opposite. Blue-white refers to the fluorescence that results in natural light, which contains ultraviolet wavelengths. This blue fluorescence actually makes a colorless diamond look a little oily or milky in sunlight and decreases its value.

THE LIGHT MAKES WHITE SCAM: Bright lights make every mined diamond look better. Of course, every jeweler wants to show his or her diamonds in the best light, but there are some lighting tricks you should avoid. Some bulbs have a strong blue component, which makes yellow stones look whiter. Special bulbs are often used with strong ultraviolet wavelengths, which make most diamonds fluoresce blue. This also has a whitening effect for stones in the lower color ranges.

THE GRADE BUMPING SCAM: A jeweler exaggerates the grade. The FTC says that a jeweler must be accurate within one grade of color and one grade of clarity on a diamond. So many jewelers bump the color and clarity just one grade. Unfortunately, this can mean a great deal of money if you are talking about a fine-quality, 1-carat diamond. For instance, you might find a stone that the jeweler quotes as a 1.00 carat F color / VS1 clarity for $6,500. However, if you sent it to a reputable gem lab like GIA, it would come back as a G color / VS2 clarity, which is only worth about $5,500. This means you lose (and they profit) about $1,000.

THE FRACTION SCAM: The tag says 3/4 carat, and the FTC allows jewelers to round off diamond weights. So a diamond labeled as 3/4 carat in weight might actually weigh anywhere between .69 and .81 carat. This could mean a significant amount of money, since diamond prices leap at certain popular sizes. In this example, you might be buying a .69 carat round G/VS2 worth about $2,100... but paying for what you thought was a 0.75 carat worth $3,000. You lose $900.

THE LASER DRILLING SCAM: Dealers drill holes to burn out black carbon spots. About 1 in 3 diamonds in the United States is laser drilled. Dealers use lasers to drill a tiny hole into the depths of a diamond to burn and evaporate large black inclusions to make them disappear. The trouble with this little trick is that laser drilling can make the diamond a little more fragile to breaking with a good knock. Most dealers trade laser-drilled stones for much less.

THE HIDING THE FLAWS SCAM: Every jeweler hides flaws under the prongs if he can. In many cases, this can make an I1 clarity appear like a VS2 if you look at it in a ring setting. Structural flaws like feathers and cleavages can be damaged by the high pressure exerted by the prong on the diamond to hold it snug in the ring.

THE FRACTURE FILLING SCAM: New treatments to make flaws invisible. There is a new process patented a few years ago that melts a kind of crystal into surface-breaking fractures in a diamond. This technique will slide by consumers unnoticed. The treatment is considered slightly fragile because it can be damaging under the extreme heat of a torch when the diamond is set into a ring. Fracture-filled diamonds should trade for much less than diamonds without this treatment, but in reality they often sell for as much or more because they look like a higher, more expensive clarity grade.

THE CHEMICAL COLOR COATINGS SCAM: A little paint goes a long way. This very deceptive practice involves a little point of blue or purple paint on the lowest tip of the diamond, called the culet. This is small enough that you might not detect it, but the location spreads the color throughout the stone. This counters the yellow tint in lower color grades, making a diamond look like a more expensive, colorless grade.

Man made diamonds or synthetic diamonds are manufactured in a laboratory under controlled conditions. If anything about synthetic diamonds is called into question it is that they are too perfect. And since all mined diamonds have inclusions, flaws, and birthmarks, under magnification a trained jeweler can tell the difference. Considering that man made diamonds cannot be distinguished with the naked eye, lab-created diamonds have aesthetic beauty matching—often besting—mined diamonds, and huge savings are realized, jewelry lovers must regard synthetic diamonds as an intelligent option. Plus, there is no insurance to buy after purchasing man made diamond jewelry and the thousands of dollars in savings can be banked!

How To Find A Lost Diamond

On Christmas Day, our entire family gathered in the living room of my Grandpa's house to exchange gifts and stories. The children were laughing and climbing all over the furniture and the adults were eating sweets and gossiping when it happened.

My cousin Mary screamed at the top of her lungs!

Without saying any actual words, she held up her right hand to show everyone the tragedy - she had lost the diamond centerpiece from her engagement ring!

Of course the entire family came to her emotional rescue and got down on their hands and knees to search for the valuable gemstone. Although everyone was very eager to find the diamond, we rummaged around the entire room for over twenty minutes and came up short. Then Grandpa got to thinking... he used his best Dumpdiggers' brand tactics to determine the solution to the problem.

Grandpa went upstairs and retrieved one of grandmother's nylon stockings. Next he opened the closet in the hall and fetched out the vacuum cleaner. He fastened the stocking on the end of the vacuum cleaner's nozzle. When Grandpa turned on the vacuum, about three inches of stocking was sucked up inside the nozzle, and out of sight. But Grandpa didn't care - he applied suction to the entire carpet, and the chair in which Mary had been sitting...

After six minutes, when Grandpa finally turned off the blessed machine, the diamond presented itself inside a lint ball of dust and cat hair, in the nozzle, sparkling brighter than ever on the surface of Grandma's nylon stocking!

Grandpa is the wide old man.

Diamond Watches - A Girl's (and Boy's) Best Friend

In Spain when men propose marriage to women and receive affirmation, they present them with traditional engagement rings - and then their fianc้es often return the honor by presenting their men with diamond watches! Men's diamond watches are a type of men's diamond jewelry that is both practical and attractive. They are a type of designer-luxury item that one would not give every day, but for that once-in-a-lifetime gift that is more than just a bauble, diamond watches are ideal.

Watch History

Clocks and timepieces have been around almost as long as human history, but mechanical clocks are a fairly recent innovation, having come into existence only about 700 years ago. The earliest direct ancestor of today's mens diamond watch were gear-and-spring driven devices invented in Europe during the 1400s; the first watches were miniature versions of the same device, worn around the neck. As these shrank in size over the next two centuries, they eventually became the traditional pocket watch - an anachronism that many men still use.

The Ladies' Diamond Watch

The first true wristwatches really were diamond watches. These were small timepieces integrated into actual diamond jewelry bracelets for women who were members of European royalty. Although 19th century jeweler Paket Phillipe et Cie is generally credited with creating the first true ladies' diamond watch for Hungarian Countess Kosewitz in 1868, there are references to such "watch bracelets" dating back as far as 1572, when the Earl of Leicester presented Queen Elizabeth I with a round watch, inlaid with diamonds, which was suspended from a wristband. Most historians consider this to be the first ladies' diamond watch.

The Mens' Diamond Watch

Wrist watches were considered effeminate until around 1900; virtually all mens' watches were pocket watches. The invention of heavier-than-air, motorized aircraft in 1903 changed all of that. The year following, French-Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Dumont-Santos found that he needed a timepiece that he could look at without removing his hands from the controls. The result was the first wristwatch for men; these convenient instruments soon superseded wrist watches in terms of popularity.

Diamond Watches Today

Since that time, three companies - one French, one Japanese and one Swiss - are best known for incorporating fine timepieces into diamond jewelry. Those three are Cartier, Citizens, and Movado. The latter company has been making watches for men since the early part of the last century; today, there are nearly 200 different models of mens' and ladies' diamond watches to choose from, many of which are among the finest diamond watches available on the market today.

Elements Of Quality Diamond Necklaces

Diamonds are mined in many places like the United States, Canada and Africa. Diamonds are the hardest gems and in fact, the only thing that could cut a diamond would be another diamond. They can be made or used for any kind of jewelry such as earrings, rings and necklaces. Diamond necklaces are popular because of the elegance and beauty that it has and brings to the wearer. Whatever kind of necklace the diamond has been set in, it would still give a sparkle that cannot be compared to anything else.

As you set out to buy a diamond necklace for yourself or to give to someone, you need to consider the 4 Cs - which would be the diamond's cut, color, clarity and carat. These four elements would be able to help you in determining whether a particular diamond necklace would be suitable for your needs. Also, you should set out to find one that would have a perfect score in all the elements - well, not unless you are extremely rich. Once you understand each of the elements, you can then weight out which elements would be most important to prioritize and you could start looking for your diamond necklace from there.

The cut is how the crafter has cut the diamond. Usually, when diamonds are mined, they come in various shapes and forms. The types which are most common are the round cut, the diamond cut, the triangle cut, the rectangle cut, the heart shaped and the square cut. It could totally be up to you which cut to choose.

The diamond's color would not always be as clear as you might think. The diamonds, which have lower quality, are clouded and would usually show some areas which are unclear.

The clarity is a bit related to the color. A lot of people would want to have their diamond to be colorless and clear. However, there are a lot of other colors that diamonds come from and you might actually want one that would be colored instead of one that is colorless.

Finally, the carat would be the diamond size. For engagement rings, it is customary to get larger ones and so, some sacrifice the color and quality just to achieve more carat. However for diamond necklaces, the color and clarity are usually considered first than the carat.

Diamond Engagement Rings - Past Present and Future

Diamond Engagement Rings - Past Present and Future

In most of the Western World - Europe, the Anglophone countries and increasingly Westernized Asian countries such as Japan and Korea - diamond engagement rings are a traditional part of the courtship and marriage process. Although plain gold bands for the actual wedding are also traditional, diamond jewelry in the form of a diamond wedding ring set has become much more common. Interestingly, the custom of rings for marriage predates the concept of diamond engagement rings by several centuries.

Diamonds Haven't Been Forever

Diamonds have been worn as adornment as far back as the days of the Roman Empire, but weren't used in diamond wedding rings until Archduke Maximilian I of Hapsburg presented one to Marie of Burgundy on the occasion of their wedding in 1477. The concept of engagement rings had started about 250 years earlier as a result of a papal decree; Pope Innocent III decided that couples should go through a longer betrothal period prior to taking vows. Upon announcing their wedding plans, it was customary for the man and woman to exchange plain metal bands - gold for royalty, silver for nobility, bronze for the upper and middle (merchant) class, and iron for peasants.

The Market for Diamond Engagment Rings is Created

The practice of presenting diamond engagement rings is shockingly recent - and in fact, goes back less than sixty years. In fact, it was the result of a corporate marketing strategy designed to convince people of the existence of a "historical tradition" that in fact had never existed!

It was the DeBeers company - a corporate entity based in South Africa that today controls over half the world's diamond supply - that came up with the most successful "catch phrase" of all time - "A diamond is forever." This campaign, which began around 1950, resulted in the creation of the new "tradition" of diamond engagement rings.

A similar attempt was made in U.S., again in an attempt to convince the public that it had long been "traditional" for men to receive engagement rings. American men didn't fall for it, but eventually, a similar marketing campaign resulted in today's extensive market for "his and hers" diamond wedding ring sets.

Diamond Jewelry and Weddings Today

Regardless of what advertising executives say, it is important that those who have a wedding in their future do what is economically comfortable and meaningful for them. After all, millions of dollars have been spent for diamond wedding ring set to celebrate weddings that lasted only a few years or months. On the other hand, there are couples wearing plain, simple gold bands who have gone on to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversaries.

For those who are curious however, the "rule of thumb" - established by the diamond industry - is that men should plan on spending about six months' salary when considering the purchase of diamond engagement rings.

Synthetic Diamonds – Chagrinned When Jewelers Scoff At Fabulous Fake Diamonds

New synthetic diamonds are so closely resemble mined diamonds that the naked eye cannot tell the difference, often saving consumers enough money to make a down-payment on a new home or buy a car. Unfounded diamond jeweler arrogance, pretentiousness, and snootiness has gone too far!

My girlfriend has been parading around town with a magnificent 4-carat Round Brilliant cut synthetic diamond set in a stunning 14K solid gold filigree solitaire ring setting for a year now. She has been to restaurants, work, shopping, night clubs, museums, and parties. Family and friends have scrutinized her ring. She has been stopped repeatedly by others who were dumbfounded by her ring. Hundreds of people have seen her ring, astonished by its majesty, gushing about it. And despite its ostentatious size, no one has asked if it is a fake diamond!

How could this be? The latest breakthrough science in lab-created diamonds has brought them in line with mined diamonds. Long gone is the aurora borealis or "disco ball" effect that was seen in synthetic diamonds of the past decades. New millennium synthetic diamonds—with similar hardness, clarity, fire, and brilliance—are indistinguishable with the naked eye and simply don't look fake. High quality synthetic diamonds even have the coveted hearts-and-arrows effect.

This begs the question: If one were to saunter into a jewelry store with a synthetic diamond, can a jeweler tell the difference? Since all mined diamonds have color disparities (flaws), birthmarks (flaws), and inclusions (flaws), and lab-created diamonds have none of the above, a trained eye can tell the difference. A sneering glance under a loupe or even under discriminating examination with a magnifying glass, a jeweler will often proudly declare a synthetic diamond as a fake. Modern synthetic diamonds are too perfect in the world of jeweler snobbery when pushing over-priced high profit diamonds is the agenda at hand.

With the use of scientific testing equipment, mined diamonds will conduct electricity and synthetic diamonds will not. That is because mined diamonds are a carbon gem material and synthetic diamonds are polycrystalline. A thermal probe will produce different readings, differentiating the two. But does this really matter to a jewelry lover who is interested in aesthetic beauty and saving thousands of dollars? In the year my girlfriend has been showcasing her synthetic diamond on her finger; no one has walked up to her with scientific equipment asking to test her gemstone.

Why do virtually all brick-and-mortar jewelers carry only mined diamonds? Why do jewelers scoff at synthetic diamonds? You need to look no further than your wallet. A 1-carat high quality mined diamond is about $3000, a 2-carat about $18,000, a 3-carat about $40,000, and a 4-carat goes for about $90,000. Respectively, synthetic diamonds run about $79, $158, $237, and $326. It's about the money. Don't kid yourself.

It's also about indoctrination. For over a century, the diamond cartel has spent billions of dollars convincing the public that jewel quality mined diamonds have intrinsic value like gold. Not true. Why? During this time DeBeers has limited production, bought up supplies from others, stockpiled inventory, and imposed its monopoly position on jewelry manufacturers in the successful effort to keep prices inflated. And to make matters worse, the diamond industry as a whole has a checkered past with conflict stones, debt-slave child labor in India used in cutting operations, and shady techniques used to enhance perceived quality to further squeeze out ridiculous prices from beleaguered jewelry lovers.

Smart jewelry shoppers today are considering synthetic diamonds as an alternative to mined diamonds for some very savvy reasons: (1) They can acquire fine jewelry pieces set in solid 14K gold. (2) They will save literally thousands of dollars. (3) There is no need to buy insurance. (4) When wearing there synthetic diamond jewelry nobody will know that they are not mined diamonds unless they tell them!

How To Use Diamond Tool To Cut Steel?

The diamond tool is commonly used in micro-machining as it can withstand the micro hardening of the workpiece surface during micro-machining. This micro-hardening creates enough resistance to break the tool bit easily in micro milling, but not a diamond tool. Micro-machining using diamond tool could be performed at high speeds and generally fine speeds to produce good surface finish such as mirror surfaces and high dimensional accuracy in non-ferrous alloys and abrasive non-metallic materials.

However, if a diamond tool were to be used to cut steel, one of the most common engineering materials used in industries, the diamond tool will face severe tool wear. While diamond only softens at 1350 degree Celsius and melts at 3027 degree Celsius, and is also the hardest material in the world, it has a weakness. Diamond succumbs to graphitization, which means that it will change its crystal structure to graphite crystal structure at 200 degree Celsius in the presence of a catalyst metal such as carbon steel and alloys with titanium, nickel and cobalt.

There have been various attempts to improve the tool life of the diamond tool while cutting steel so as to improve the efficiency and profitability of this operation. Such processes include micro-cutting the steel workpiece in a carbon-rich gas chamber as well as a cryongenically cooled chamber. However, these methods require costly equipment modification and restrict direct supervision of the micro-cutting process.

The latest breakthrough came when the diamond tool was subject to ultrasonic vibration during micro-cutting. It has been shown that a diamond tool subject to ultrasonic vibration can cut the steel well enough to produce a mirror surface finish with acceptable tool life. The ultrasonic vibration at the diamond tool tip allows the tool face to cool down considerably during the cutting process and delays the chemical reaction between the diamond tool and the steel workpiece. As a result, the diamond tool life is increased by a few hundred times.

For example, a single crystal diamond tool with feedrate 5 micron/revolution, cutting speed zero to 5m/min and depth of cut 10 micron was attached to a ultrasonic vibration generator so that the diamond tool tip vibrated about 4 microns while it was used to cut stainless steel. The mirror surface finish of the cut steel surface was measured at 8 nm Ra!

With more and more machining companies moving into the niche micro machining field, such ultrasonic vibration assisted cutting can only help the progressive company to achieve process leadership and innovative differentiation.

Imitation Diamonds – What's To Love About Faux Diamond Jewelry?

Affordable: Once someone discovers imitation diamonds, it is inconceivable why they would not want everlasting elegance, saving thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars in the process, banking the difference. It is a fact that jewelry lovers are not acting out of charity when they buy diamond jewelry—endeavoring to make jewelers, mined diamond dealers, and the diamond cartel richer than they already are.

No way to tell the difference with the naked eye: Scientists have synthesized and created diamond alternatives that are so ostensibly close to a mined diamonds that even certified gemologists require scientific testing equipment to tell the difference. Breakthrough advances have made the latest faux diamonds closely mimic the properties of mined diamonds. They cut glass, they refract light into perfect hearts-and-arrows, and they have superlative fire and brilliance. In fact, in almost all measurable variations, they match or are superior to mined diamonds.

No pricing gymnastics: A common practice in retailing mined diamond jewelry is to use phantom prices and then show impressive discounts in an effort to lure buyers. This practice is called phantom pricing. With lab-created diamonds this deception is not possible because the prices are low to begin with, leaving no room to use phantom pricing.

No reason to constantly police your synthetic diamond jewelry: Do you forever want worry that you will lose expensive jewelry pieces, damage them, or have them stolen? Do you want to feel compelled to buy a home safe? When you travel, do you want to be burdened with frequently thinking about the security of your jewelry? With imitation diamonds all these concerns disappear.

No need to buy insurance: In a short time, what you’d pay in extra premiums to insure just a few pieces of mined diamond jewelry, you could fill your jewelry box with synthetic diamonds. But that is not the worst of it. Insurance is an ongoing never-ending expense.

No secret mined diamond dirty tricks and scams: All mined diamonds have flaws, birthmarks, and vary in quality. These realities are a breeding ground for a buffet mined diamond fraud that victimizes and robs consumers. From grade bumping to laser drilling to fracture filling, the mined diamond industry is awash in unscrupulous business practices. Lab-created diamonds are uniform, flawless, and priced low so frauds simply do not exist.

No supporting the diamond cartel: It all starts at the top with the De Beers diamond cartel, which would run afoul of federal anti-trust laws if headquartered in the united states. Diamonds are in fact cheap to produce and would be lower in price if it weren’t for the global cartel. Its aim is to maintain a strong monopoly position, an objective which it has successfully achieved for decades. In controlling the mined diamond market, De Beers has exploited a relatively simple idea: put a stranglehold on production, hold inventory, and limit distribution, thereby keeping prices stratospheric, and making diamond alternative engagement rings a popular choice. What makes De Beers so special is its execution. Over the past 60 years the cartel has done for mined diamonds something that eluded the oil producers of OPEC and even the cocaine barons of the Medellin cartel. De Beers has the muscle and the nerve to impose its own order on the market and has built a dominate juggernaut syndicate.

No “slave” or child labor used: Diamond mining operations are rife with horrific conditions and have a long history of dehumanizing humiliating practices. Debt slavery and child labor is common in diamond cutting operations in India, where much of the world’s diamonds are cut and polished.

No conflict stones: It is no secret that from the beginning of the modern mined diamond industry in the 1800s through today that mined diamonds are used to support regional wars, help fund murder on a grand scale, and contribute to genocide. Imitation diamonds are created in a lab by technicians at a reasonably low cost and, therefore, cannot possibly be used as a currency for human misery.

Prestige: While there is no prestige in overpaying, there is tremendous prestige in enhancing your existing wardrobe with beautiful man made diamonds on a budget. You can accessorize and glamorize till your heart’s content, with a smile on your face, showing you are a person of stature at any occasion or event.

Buying A Wedding Ring? Avoid Classic Diamond Scams

As you walk along on your quest for the perfect diamond for your mate,
you hear, “Pssst! Hey mister, I hear you’re looking for some good
rocks. I’ve got some great stones, really reasonably priced. I’ll even throw
in the ring for free!”

Sounds shady? You bet he is! Of course, you wouldn’t really buy a
diamond from a guy in an alley wearing a trench, right?

Bet you’d be amazed by how many scams are pulled and in broad daylight
by jewelers who seem absolutely honest. Some of them even have
beautiful shops that look really hi-tech. Beat them at their own game by
learning their scams.

The bigger the better, a lot of people say. When a jeweler tells you
that you have a five carat diamond ring, don’t get dazzled by the carats.
If there was only one stone then you’d have no problem. You might
actually be getting a 1 carat diamond surrounded by eight half-carat smaller
pieces.

An honest jeweler will tell you the weight of each stone in the ring
separate from the center diamond. In fact he’ll even give you a
certificate from a reputed lab such as the Gemological Institute of America
(GIA) as proof. If he can’t or won’t do these, you’re better off buying
from someone else.

Then there’s the bait and switch. The jewelry store will advertise a
diamond at a great price. Problem is that when you get there, they’ll
tell you that it’s already been sold and try to convince you to get
another piece instead. Rarely is this case true. Usually there was never such
a piece and they’ll show you something more expensive that they will
try to get you to buy instead.

If the diamond that they announced for sale isn’t available, ask for
another just like it. If they can’t produce another one of the same
special quality and price, you are better off walking out the door. Don’t
let them get your hard earned money.

Normally when you go to a jewelry shop, the gems are lying on a
beautiful cloth bed under bright lights. The gems are so white and tempting.
Hold it right there! Most diamonds really will look whiter especially
under lights that give off a certain blue component. If you really want
to check the color of a stone, check it in sunlight. If they refuse,
refuse to purchase as well.

You were finally able to find the gem that symbolizes your love. You
ask your jeweler t o know make it into a ring so that you can propose to
your beloved. He said that you would have to leave it with him for a
few weeks and he’ll call you when it’s ready.

When the ring arrives, it is beautiful but….something about it just
doesn’t feel right. You can’t quite put your finger on it but this doesn’t
seem to be the diamond that you bought. How can you tell?

The solution is simple: have the diamond checked by an independent
gemologist certified by a group such as the GIA. Have them compare it to
the certificate of your diamond to confirm that it is a match. After all,
no two diamonds are exactly the same. Then you’ll know and can demand
proper action.

Bottom line, to avoid scams you should take the time to educate
yourself about the basics of diamonds. Next you’ll need to find a jeweler or
gemologist that you can truly trust. Lastly, always ensure that you are
given the proper certificate for your gem, one issued by the
Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or another reputed independent lab. These
will save you a whole lot of money and avoid giving you headaches.

Pipelines are the Nation’s Energy Lifeline

There is a 200,000-mile petroleum pipeline network constantly working to supply us with the products that make our nation tick. America's economy depends on these pipelines to run efficiently, safely and to be reliable. Every day this network delivers us the energy we need to survive. It brings us the gasoline to run our machinery and transportation vehicles, heating oil to make our homes and work places comfortable, and jet fuel to fly both people and products to places all over enabling manufacturing and production to happen in a timely fashion. The primary means of moving crude oil, gasoline, diesel fuel and other petroleum products to consumer markets are these pipelines. Because most of them are buried underground, and largely unseen, they are safe from harm. They move crude oil from oil fields on land and offshore to refineries where the oil is turned into other fuel products. From the refineries, the oil and fuel products go to terminals where they are trucked to retail outlets. Americans use more than 20 million barrels of oil products each and every day. Pipelines operate constantly, 24 hours a day, seven days a week to keep the essential fuel flowing through this network to consumers.

Safely, cost effectively, and efficiently, this pipeline network delivers us with a commodity that is fundamental to the American way of life. Transported through the pipelines is the energy to fuel our cars, trucks, busses, airplanes, and ships—the vehicles that keep us going. Also through the pipeline network, crude oil is delivered to refineries that convert it into essential material for the core industries producing plastics, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture—the major products necessary to maintain the life style as we know it.

Realizing how important the pipeline network in America is, the petroleum pipeline industry’s safety record remains strong and is constantly improving. Operators are doing a better job steadily of protecting pipelines from corrosion, damage by third parties, weather or natural disasters, and any other harmful circumstances. Government agencies that regulate the pipeline industry include the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (part of the U.S. Department of Transportation), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Regulations have forced a recording of the distribution of energy products through the pipeline network. The specific product is measured at the receipt point in the pipeline and again upon delivery to document the amount of product moved from one point to another. The amount charged to the customer depends on the product, the amount transported, and the distance between the receipt and delivery points. This process is similar to how you ship a package from one place to another. First, a carrier is chosen; the pick up and delivery point are confirmed; the weight is accounted for; and a pre-established fee is paid for the service. Like shipping packages, transporting different batches of petroleum can encounter unexpected delivery changes. However, unlike the package tracking, tracking and measuring pipeline volumes can be real challenges. Companies like Triple Diamond Energy Corporation accept these challenges as a part of doing business within the energy sector providing such an important commodity.

The Unique Princess Cut Diamond Ring

The modern princess cut diamond ring is result of over five hundred years of refinement of the art and science of diamond cutting. Princess cut diamonds take advantage of the natural molecular structure of diamonds in order to create the maximum amount of sparkle and shine, which is technically known as "fire." Princess cut diamond rings have a great deal more of this fire than most traditional round cuts.

Two Pyramids

If you can visualize two pyramids joined at the base - an eight-sided polyhedron, or octagon - you know what diamonds look life when they first come out of the ground. The reason for this has to do with the shape of the carbon molecules that make up diamond crystals. When jewelers finally learned how to cut this substance, they simply followed the gem's natural shape. Princess cut diamonds represent the pinnacle of the diamond cutter's art.

Three Years of Study

Princess cut diamonds first appeared almost thirty years ago, and was the innovation of a Los Angeles diamond cutter named Israel Itzkowitz. Prior to this time, the stones used in diamond rings were either "round cut" - with equal cuts around the face of the stone - or "square cut" - meaning that four sides were long and the other four were short, so the face of the diamond approximated a rectangular shape.

Itzkowitz studies for several years to perfect the princess cut. The princess cut diamond ring combines the best features of both the round and the square cuts.

Current Style

Both traditional white and the wide range of colored diamonds account for most of the mounted and loose diamonds sold today. However, princess cut diamonds are next in popularity for diamond engagement rings and other jewelry.

One of the reasons that Princess cut diamond rings are rapidly gaining in popularity is not only because of its brilliance compared to other cuts; it is in fact the most economical way to cut a diamond. Of all diamond cuts, the princess cut wastes the least of the original stone, so it retains substantially more of its original weight. Because of this, these pieces are less costly than similar rings with round cut gems. Generally speaking, a diamond ring with a princess cut is the best diamond value on a per-carat basis.

Diamond Vision DVD Amateur Region-Free Drudge and Review

This analysis and regionless drudge applies to the afterward DVD / MP3 / CD player: Diamond Vision DVDV807-03. The DVD player's chiral aswell includes instructions for the DVDV807-04 model, so a lot of of this advice should administer to it as well.

Whether you intend to watch adopted accent videos in adjustment to apprentice a new language, or because some titles are not accessible area you live, DVDs from addition arena will apparently be unplayable on your accepted DVD player. However, a DVD apparatus can generally be adapted (hacked) to a altered arena via a limited ascendancy arrangement or firmware upgrade. 2.) If you try to accomplish STOP, OPEN, and PLAY buttons too quickly, the amateur sometimes locks up. Powering down and restarting consistently resets the amateur successfully.

According to videohelp.com, this arena drudge will aswell plan with abounding added Diamond Vision DVD players.

This assemblage is a appealing accepted abridgement DVD player. You can usually acquisition it for able-bodied beneath $50 in a lot of Wal-Marts.
